2 min – charlie: i caged this convo on mapping.. we’re in the future living week.. my research has always been on collab housing.. mostly on community land trusts.. helping people set up very long horizon trusts.. with citizen groups but then later with local municipalities.. much larger scale.. and you’ll see some of those ie’s.. but i put it into maps because mapping has been a big part of my process.. i always start with understanding ownership.. some long histories of how people have used it treated these place.. and w/in it where maps come in..

3 min – charlie: there’s so much more depth/time than the boundary that you can see.. with maps a boundary is deeper than a line.… and that’s often forgotten.. it’s often a key part.. when people start to realize something is happening it’s a lagging indicator.. they start to do something when they’re about to lose something.. but really you’re 6-12 mos away from when the real decision was made and sometimes even decades before..

to me.. the finite set of choices of decision making is unmooring us.. keeping us from us.. ie: baan leave law

7 min – charlie: 2\ citizens playing this role – developing housing – which is the real theme of this talk.. there’s no othering.. all working w same materials.. same planning/finances/people w same emotions.. but working the same system w diff materials.. everyone becomes marketized in this.. since assembling from pieces of existing system..
