* What happened this summer at @VotC2026

https://felixfritsch2.substack.com/p/constants-are-changing

@FelixFritsch2, the host of the event, writes:

“Valley of the Commons 2026 was planned as four weeks of themes and keynotes, a very airy format. And the talks were great, each and every week. But in the second week something unforeseen happened. Based on a deal we had closed only two weeks before the Valley, a wave of artists arrived, and with them contact improv, gong and sound baths, massage, sauna rituals and lots more.

The vibe shifted. Cosier, homier, more creative. Our co-working space became the Zen Room, likely for good. On the last night of that week we became primordial soup, then a multi-cellular organism, all the way to a tribe of chimpanzees and back to humans.

In week 3, on future living in community, we visited our favourite potential site for a first co-housing: two charming villas on 4 hectares of land, just around the corner from the Hub. It made dreams very real, by tying them to land, soil, fruit trees, bee hives.

Even though most artists left after week 3, in week 4 the new-found intimacy was still lingering, blossoming. It encouraged many of the remaining participants to look past the event, towards first steps to permanence.

What stayed with me most was the way we felt as a group – a collective body, if you will. Feasting on the banks of the Schwarza, weaving stories around the fire, kids playing in the garden, screens long forgotten, a professor talking political technology while washing the dishes. The mundane and the aesthetic complementing the contemplative, coalescing into an emergent culture of conviviality, collective creativity and care.”

same.. from on the ground ness deep dive.. until we ‘realized/verbalized/noted’ that none of us are free ness .. ie: year 4 – people can dance ness.. and so the focus grew stronger on – why we need tech w/o judgment

ie: the dance won’t dance unless/until it’s 1\ all of us 2\ legit free

nothing to date (ever since that day) has gotten to that root of problem

legit freedom will only happen if it’s all of us.. and in order to be all of us.. has to be sans any form of measuring, accounting, people telling other people what to do

The spiritual turn, the ‘new religiosity’, is also present at @VotC2026:

https://felixfritsch2.substack.com/p/constants-are-changing

“Spirituality *doesn’t need any claims – **it’s a relationship and a practice. Feeling connected to the land you live on, talking to the spirit of the forest, or seeing care at work in nature can just as well be ***understood as mindfulness practices that attune us to the web of life around us – without requiring superstitious belief of any kind.

*naming the colour ness et al.. keeping us from us

**to me ness – this is still (at least the verbiage to us whales implies/perpetuates) a raised eyebrow

***again.. i think we need global detox if want legit ‘no req’s’.. ie: thinking we have to ‘understand‘ anything .. or ‘label‘ anything as mindfulness or practices

The same goes for ritual. Whatever each of us believes, sitting at the same fire and sharing the same gesture at the same moment does something very real to a group. Used consciously, ritual is a social technology: it *turns a loose crowd into a community, ties us to each other and to the place we share, and, over time, grows into tradition. No keynote has ever done that for us.

and again.. love that.. part of the ‘findings (aka: the things i can’t unsee) from on the ground ness deep dive‘.. but again.. to the ‘until we ‘realized/verbalized/noted’ that none of us are free ness .. ie: year 4 – people can dance ness.. and so the focus grew stronger on – why we need tech w/o judgment‘

there’s a legit use of tech (nonjudgmental exponential labeling) to facil the seeming chaos of a global detox leap/dance

ie: whatever for a year.. a legit sabbatical ish transition

otherwise we’ll keep perpetuating the same song.. the whac-a-mole-ing ness of sea world.. of not-us ness.. of part\ial ness.. perpetuating survival triage.. for (blank)’s sake..

That’s the line I’m walking for myself. The Hub doesn’t have to walk it with me: it stays an open platform *where different worldviews meet – no spiritual stance excluded, **as long as it respects our standards of non-discrimination, and none raised to dogma.

*to me ness.. unfortunately.. diff whalespeaks.. until it’s all of us

**to me.. this is ‘dogma’ ness.. ie: ‘respects our standards’ ness is still ‘discriminatory’.. still us & them.. ness..

Whether you search for spirits in the forest or patterns in the data, there’s a seat for you at the fire.“

to me.. as long as we’re still seat at the table ness ing.. and dave’s campfire analogy ing.. not yet getting to the thing we’ve not yet tried/seen: the unconditional part of left to own devices ness

[‘in an undisturbed ecosystem ..the individual left to its own devices.. serves the whole’ –dana meadows]

to me.. in that dance.. all else are irrelevant s.. so cancerous distractions..

we need a means for everyone.. to let go... from the get go
