Peter, this is mostly true among let’s say college-educated people in the developed world. It doesn’t really hold for someone in a remote village in Africa with limited electricity, running water, etc. — nor for a high school dropout in a US inner city without a strong conceptual framework for how to leverage advanced tech to drive their life and mind forward.

Now maybe your more optimistic take is only a couple years from almost being a reality though — *if we had say a free Android AGI-grade phone assistant on every low-cost smartphone … so it spoke/understood all the world’s languages, remembered its and your life and could provide you meaningful guidance even if you didn’t know the right questions to ask … then we would be fairly close to what you’re suggesting..t **But we are not there yet and so it takes a bit more educational/cultural background than just curiosity .. t to make reliably effective use of the amazing affordances of current AI tech…
*deeper issue is what we’re using tech for.. ie: everyone could ‘have it’.. but if not using it to legit free us.. will just perpetuate same song
