nika on left ness
via nika dubrovsky tweet [https://x.com/nikadubrovsky/status/2002680075167187022?s=20]:
The left of our generation largely consists of the educated upper middle class — journalists, artists, NGO workers — surviving through harsh competition over the same scarce resources.
Where were real skills of solidarity supposed to come from?
*We grew up in a media culture of competition — for attention, for grants, for votes. And too often, **we fight each other instead of the right. We speak to one another, not to the dying working class.
*aka: the intoxication (cancerous distraction) of sea world.. need to get back/to garden-enough ness.. graeber stop at enough law et al..
**still a cancerous distraction.. won’t ever get to the root of problem until we let go of us & them ness.. because none of us are free if one of us is chained/against.. et al
legit freedom will only happen if it’s all of us.. and in order to be all of us.. has to be sans any form of measuring, accounting, people telling other people what to do
This is especially visible in the campaign against Noam Chomsky, now spreading to other left public figures. It’s incredibly easy to turn the left against itself.
actually any of us against any of us.. this is why we need a global detox leap.. for (blank)’s sake
People are outraged that their “god,” Chomsky, spoke to someone bad — and they rush to spend hours, posts, and reposts on moral panic and self-criticism of the left.
The core objective of the right is to turn potential leftists into a disoriented mass — and they achieve this effortlessly. They don’t even need to act. The left will tear itself apart.
this is all of us.. swimming in the stream of cancerous distractions
Meanwhile, workers in the Rust Belt, hearing the echoes of these debates, will conclude that the main abuser of girls was a Jewish intellectual named Noam Chomsky.
The media machine keeps pressing us — but the good news is that networks of solidarity keep forming anyway.
again.. not legit ‘solidarity’ until it’s all of us.. berners-lee everyone law.. et al
The movement for Palestine already feels like an international tribe: crossing nations, religions, borders, pushing through repression. In the UK, by the way, the real driving force has been students and pensioners.
and again.. not legit ‘crossing ness’ until it’s all of us.. berners-lee everyone law.. et al
This is how we win.
this is how we let go of ‘winning ness’.. ie: this is still that competition ness..
______
how we gather in a space is huge.. need to try spaces of permission where people have nothing to prove to facil curiosity over decision making.. because the finite set of choices of decision making is unmooring us.. keeping us from us.. keeping us locked in us & them ness..
to me.. our ‘natural’ state is when we’re able to listen to what is already on (and deeply buried) in each heart.. to get to that.. need global detox.. to get to that.. need to try:
the thing we’ve not yet tried/seen: the unconditional part of left to own devices ness
[‘in an undisturbed ecosystem ..the individual left to its own devices.. serves the whole’ –dana meadows]
ie: imagine if we listen to the itch-in-8b-souls 1st thing everyday & use that data to connect us (tech as it could be.. ai as augmenting interconnectedness)
there’s a legit use of tech (nonjudgmental exponential labeling) to facil the seeming chaos of a global detox leap/dance.. for (blank)’s sake..
ie: whatever for a year.. a legit sabbatical ish transition
otherwise we’ll keep perpetuating the same song.. the whac-a-mole-ing ness .. the us & them ness.. of sea world.. of not-us ness.. of part\ial ness.. [again].. for (blank)’s sak
