(disclaimer..after googling it et al: see it as another cancerous distraction)

QVF — Quadratic Voting Funding seems needed for @gitcoin to be utilized in participatory budgeting at city and county scales. Would also love to see Quadratic Voting Streaming Funding from our friends at @flowstatecoop. w @gitcoinpassport @0xHolonym & @hatsprotocol obvi
from following a zachary mallory thread [https://x.com/zacharycmarlow/status/1827928374960112065]:
Are the goods being funded legible or valuable to average people outside a niche ecosystem of very particular (tho particularly exquisite) peeps?
*Can folks meet basic needs or access services that tangibly improve their lives and affect the world– through QF?
this is the part that pulled me in.. 1\ we have no idea what legit/basic needs are.. so we keep perpetuating the whac-a-mole-ing ness of symptoms/bandaids/triage/cancerous distractions of sea world 2\ only way to ‘affect world’ for good is to help us out of sea world via a detox/reset ie: org around legit needs (2 missing pieces)
need 1st/most: means (nonjudgmental expo labeling) to undo hierarchical listening as global detox so we can org around legit needs

Reflecting on our @gitcoin round retrospective: I’m thinking about the cost of promotion & the feeling of plateaued participation in rounds. It’s starting to feel like we all know each other and not many new folks are entering the ecosystem. How can we change this? QF IRL?
so from wikipedia [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadratic_voting]:
Quadratic voting is a rated voting method procedure where voters express the degree of their preferences. By doing so, quadratic voting seeks to address issues of the Condorcet paradox and *tyranny of the majority. Quadratic voting works by **allowing users to “pay” for additional votes on a given outcome to express their support for given issues more strongly, resulting in voting outcomes that are aligned with the highest willingness to pay outcome, rather than just the outcome preferred by the majority regardless of the intensity of individual preferences. The payment for votes may be through either artificial or real currencies (e.g. with tokens distributed equally among voting members or with real money). ***Quadratic voting is a variant of cumulative voting, which differs in that the weight of a vote is normalized using the sum of squares, rather than the sum of absolute values.

*public consensus always oppresses someone(s).. doesn’t matter how many maths you do.. just iterating on cancerous distractions.. any form of democratic admin ie: decision making (aka: voting) .. is unmooring us
**how we gather in a space is huge.. need to try spaces of permission where people have nothing to prove to facil curiosity over decision making.. because the finite set of choices of decision making is unmooring us.. keeping us from us.. ie: whatever for a year.. a legit sabbatical ish transition
there’s a legit use of tech (nonjudgmental expo labeling).. to facil a legit global detox leap.. for (blank)’s sake.. and we’re missing it
ie: imagine if we listened to the itch-in-8b-souls 1st thing everyday & used that data to connect us (tech as it could be.. ai as augmenting interconnectedness)
***oi.. of math and men.. rowson mechanical law et al.. need a way sans any form of m\a\p
10-day-care-center\ness et al
E. Glen Weyl and Steven Lalley published research in 2017 in which they argue the method has high social utility efficiency.
rather.. need a way that’s high on the unconditional ness of left to own devices ness
Quadratic funding
Vitalik Buterin in collaboration with Zoë Hitzig and E. Glen Weyl proposed quadratic funding, *a way to allocate the distribution of funds (for example, from a government’s budget, a philanthropic source, or collected directly from participants) based on quadratic voting, noting that such a mechanism allows for optimal production of public goods without needing to be determined by a centralized legislature. Weyl argues that this fills a gap with traditional free markets – **which encourage the production of goods and services for the benefit of individuals, but fail to create outcomes desirable to society as a whole – while still ***benefiting from the flexibility and diversity free markets have compared to many government programs.

*perhaps until now?.. now have means to facil seeming chaos of 8b legit free people
perhaps let’s try/code money (any form of measuring/accounting/people telling other people what to do) as the planned obsolescence w/ubi as temp placebo.. where legit needs are met w/o money.. till people forget about measuring..
ie: sabbatical ish transition
**will keep perpetuating mufleh humanity law until we let go of any form of m\a\p (aka: the unconditional ness of left to own devices ness)
***have means for much more flexibility.. for infinitesimal structures approaching the limit of structureless\ness and/or vice versa .. aka: ginorm/small ness
The Gitcoin Grants initiative is an early adopter of quadratic funding. However, this implementation differs in several ways from the original QF scheme. Led by Kevin Owocki, Scott Moore, and Vivek Singh, the initiative has distributed more than $60,000,000 to over 3,000 open-source software development projects as of 2022.

Global hackathon organizer DoraHacks’ developer incentive platform HackerLink has leveraged quadratic funding to help many open Web3 ecosystems like Solana, Filecoin and BSC distribute more than $10,000,000 to 1,500 projects. Schemes have been designed by the DoraHacks team to enhance the integrity of quadratic funding. HackerLink and Gitcoin are considered the largest quadratic funding platforms for funding public goods and open source project

“Money represents command over production”
focusing on ie: production.. reps a command over people.. ie: people telling other people what to do
A concept you should know about:
* Credit Guidance,
Jason Hickel:
“Credit guidance: The idea here is to impose rules that limit the quantity of finance that commercial banks can invest in problem sectors. For example, credit guidance can be used to scale down commercial investment in fossil fuel production on a binding, annual schedule. But it can also be used to reduce other destructive and unnecessary industries: SUVs, mansions, cruise ships, private jets, industrial beef, dangerous plastics, fast fashion, weapons, advertising, etc. To grasp the power of this, and why it is needed, we need to understand something about money. Money represents command over production.” (https://braveneweurope.com/jason-hickel-credit-guidance-how-we-achieve-degrowth)
