* Is there an Asian Way to Technology ? Come to Chiang Mai to Find Out!!!
In about 30 minutes time, I have a zoom with a Chinese and Malaysian colleagues, resident or often coming to Chiang Mai.
The context: my friends in the Global Chinese Commons have opened a 28-unit building in the heart of Chiang Mai, with a co-working center and a significant library dedicated to Decentralization. It will also function as a cultural center.
In that context, the three of us, are thinking of launching a reading club for Chiang Mai, to study, more or less, ‘the Asian way of Technology’, we will read books that offer alternative relations to technology, ..t than the hitherto dominant ‘western’ option.
what if the alt we need isn’t in a book
the relation we need is tech w/o judgment.. to undo our hierarchical listening to self/others/nature as global detox/re\set.. so we can org around legit needs ie: nonjudgmental expo labeling
tech as it could be
mufleh humanity law: we have seen advances in every aspect of our lives except our humanity– Luma Mufleh
here’s a legit use of tech (nonjudgmental expo labeling).. to facil a legit global detox leap.. for (blank)’s sake.. and we’re missing it
legit freedom will only happen if it’s all of us.. and in order to be all of us.. has to be sans any form of measuring, accounting, people telling other people what to do
Personally, I am particularly interested in 19th cy thinkers such as Tan Zitong, who, faced with western domination and modernity, felt the need to synthesize the Chinese traditions, in order to better confront modernity. In other words, we have here integrative thinkers like Aurobindo and de Chardin.
October 10 to November 10, Edge City Lanna will be coming, perhaps more than a thousand people and perhaps with 15 co-learning events per day, and I also intent to give my 4-seminar history of civilization course, introducing the pivotal role of commons-based institutions, and how Web3 is today a historical actor of the utmost importance.
only if we try something legit diff.. iterating on same song is keeping us from us
Please come visit us to Chiang Mai to participate in this renewal of civilizational and technological thinking.
if only
how we gather in a space is huge.. need to try spaces of permission where people have nothing to prove to facil curiosity over decision making.. because the finite set of choices of decision making is unmooring us.. keeping us from us..
ie: whatever for a year.. a legit sabbatical ish transition
ie: imagine if we listened to the itch-in-8b-souls 1st thing everyday & used that data to connect us

and later another tweet [https://x.com/mbauwens/status/1889890945203929095]:
I was alerted to this older editorial of mine, for the Great Transition Initiative project. Even if I may so myself, I find it a very good summary of what is at stake today:
* What the Blockchain Revolution offers as a third path for humankind:
notes/quotes from 2022 editorial:
The blockchain can be used as an essential tool to construct the next cyber-physical infrastructure that will allow humanity to produce for its own needs, while respecting planetary boundaries and our interdependency with the web of life..t
won’t ‘produce’ (rather be about) legit needs until we’ve all been detoxed from all the cancerous distractions we keep calling ‘needs’
need 1st/most: means to undo our hierarchical listening to self/others/nature as global detox/re\set.. so we can org around legit needs
ie: tech as nonjudgmental expo labeling
A ledger is first and foremost an accounting tool, recording transactions. This is obviously not trivial:..t
not trivial.. but not humane.. graeber violence/quantification law et al
mufleh humanity law: we have seen advances in every aspect of our lives except our humanity– Luma Mufleh
legit freedom will only happen if it’s all of us.. and in order to be all of us.. has to be sans any form of measuring, accounting, people telling other people what to do
The third model is the cosmo-local model: in this model, we aim for an intelligent relocalization, based on distributed manufacturing models, producing on demand using the maximum amount of biodegradable material. In such a model, local production units are linked to global open design communities, and a partner state, or “community state,” enables and empowers individual and collective autonomy at the local scale and guarantees the equality of contributory capacity. Local alliances of public authorities, the commercial sector, the formal civil society, and research organizations support commons-centric public initiatives; they are mirrored, in a fractal way, by similar transnational institutions that support a domain-specific commons institutions, which we call the “magisteria of the commons.”
