*to me.. this is another version of validation.. and i don’t think legit free people would be about that.. they’d be too ‘busy’ with the dance
So, if you’re looking to *boost your self-worth and live a life filled with meaning and purpose, be sure to check out Gabor Mate’s Youtube channel.
*to me.. legit free people would consider (aka: not even consider) meaning, purpose, self worth as irrelevant s.. ie: too usefully preoccupied being their art (being human).. being/doing the thing(s) they can’t not do.. to even spend time/energy to think about such things et al
notes/quotes from 40 min video:
what i call the happy childhood challenge.. takes about 3 min asking basic questions.. that happy childhood story never stands up to any kind of scrutiny.. and it’s really important that it doesn’t .. otherwise people blame themselves..
gabor on childhood trauma et al
1 min – self loathing and self rejection.. are the hallmarks of trauma..
the world he lives in .. in which he is worthless.. created by his childhood.. but he can’t see it (on story he told in myth of normal)
2 min – mark: now am reorg ing what matters.. and need for validation.. i would have said have high self worth/esteem et al.. the truth is i don’t think i really did
well you did based on external conditions
mark: yeah i really didn’t.. self retreat.. and realized.. i was enough
enough ness.. and nothing to do w self worth.. which to me is validation ness et al
4 min – as much as it (world) grinds some people down.. it elevates some people for the wrong reasons.. and it’s very addictive.. if my value depends on how much i’m helping others.. it becomes addictive.. because there’s also a niggling down inside, which is maybe unconscious.. but says.. do they want me or do they want what i’m giving them.. so a temp hit.. out culture rewards that kind of addiction.. big time.. meanwhile the soul is being ground to dust inside.. another ie of the myth of normal
7 min – dealing w symptomatology and not actual cause
8 min – mark: how do we rewire
very difficult.. partly a matter of econ.. ie: for a good therapist.. take self in for tune up
there’s a nother way
imagine if we listened to the itch-in-8b-souls 1st thing everyday & used that data to connect us (tech as it could be.. ai as augmenting interconnectedness)
9 min – compassion inquiry is one form of therapy – then lists others.. body works.. message et al.. find a therapy that is trauma informed.. most are not
10 min – for those who can’t afford.. online lots of info about trauma
perhaps for econ bit (so that detox/re\set is accessible to all of us in sync) .. let’s try/code money (any form of measuring/accounting) as the planned obsolescence w/ubi as temp placebo.. where legit needs are met w/o money.. till people forget about measuring
11 min – then there are modalities anybody can do.. such as meditation and mindfulness.. like you spent a month on your own
but everybody can’t do that.. so again.. need a means for globally accessible detox
for that need 1st/most: means to undo our hierarchical listening to self/others/nature ie: tech as it could be..
so we can org around legit needs for all of us
12 min – where you’re just alone with your mind.. (mark) that’s a scary thing.. gabor: that can be a scary thing.. and more and more books
that’s actually the econ we need..
oikos (the economy our souls crave).. ‘i should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace.’ – gaston bachelard, the poetics of space
12 min – at least we’re living in a time where this convo.. although not penetrating the medical world very much.. at least it’s happening out there in the world..
16 min – i asked michael pollan if he was surprised by the success of his book.. how to change your mind.. he said he expected a lot more pushback w/in med profession.. but that people are realizing how thin our tool kit is.. looking for other methods.. i don’t think psychedelics will save the world or the med profession.. but boy are we nuts not to explore them
michael pollan – how to change – carhart-harris entropy law et al
17 min – mark: so how do these meds work.. how do they reset neural networks.. help people metabolize their trauma
to me.. this is a huge question.. because even if they truly did reset neural networks.. we’ll get worn down again until it’s all of us
need a legit global detox/re\set
19 min – freud said dreams royal route to unconscious.. difficult (when) others have to interpret.. but i think psychedelics might be royal route to unconscious because they remove the usual defenses of the egoic mind.. so get to se both the pain and the possibility that underlies the egoic mindset
26 min – we all say.. ‘we’re all in this together’.. no we’re not.. i wouldn’t have written this book if i saw no possibility.. if i didn’t see the healing capacities.. but to get there have to look at how things are.. what we think of normal is not
31 min – nothing new.. but what is new now backed by hard science
embodiment (process of) et al
32 min – on all the ologists giving cortisol.. stress hormone.. treating everything w stress hormone..
35 min – if one phrase i could delete ‘evidence based’.. could be.. but it’s not.. listen to people’s stories.. that’s evidence..
37 min – mark: on epigenetics.. generational trauma is real.. can you change those marks?
38 min – genes turned on/off by environs.. tremendous misbelief in power of genes.. there are very few genetic diseases.. ie: ms is one.. but that’s very rare.. when comes to breast cancer.. not genetic.. very rare that an aggressive gene runs in a family.. what is decisive is how the environ acts
