thurman interconnectedness law: when you understand interconnectedness it makes you more afraid of hating than of dying – Robert Thurman

notes/quotes from session:

carol: i’m nervous for my friends.. those of us who have defined our existence in 2nd grade language.. and not able to move beyond that.. the 2nd grader w/in me.. how do we get there..

need: means to undo our hierarchical listening.. all of us in whalespeak.. nervous for all of us

andreas: it goes away if there’s no plug.. if you pull the plug it will all vanish.. a crazy reality that isn’t really a reality..

hari rat park law et al

andreas: the antithesis to togetherness.. it feeds on life by pretending.. it creates a surface a zombification of life.. it’s really that bad.. life is something that always yearns for self recreation.. it does this until it dies.. the natural care work.. this is just what you do.. protect this living relationships.. capitalism feeds on life

caring labor

andreas: there’s also profound interest in numbingness.. in making people not go back to real life.. they become violent.. we can see it all the time.. more and more.. i concur with all of you that this is terrifying.. this is first time i’m talking about these things and people react directly in this way.. they ask.. so how can we get there.. same for me.. i’m kind of blessed by my own ability to step back into this world and live in these connections.. but at the same time i’m wounded and living in this destruction

costello screen\service law

sam: i suppose that’s why you’re so fearful of your friends.. part of aliveness is living w the undeniable understanding in which we are sewing the seeds of our own destruction day after day

carol: if our language allowed me to say i am a part of this mtn/energy.. then i share also the energy of the capitalists.. don’t i.. i if i see them on the precipice them i’m there..

bobbie: i love how you’ve brought this forth.. i was a kinder teacher.. we could learn about tomatoes on a worksheet and learn the spelling or go outside.. seems like what you’re asking is for our institutions to stop separating the spiritual.. we’ve taken it so far because we haven’t wanted to tell people how to live.. we’ve become factories.. on allowing yourself to let go of right/wrong ness.. can go w so many expressions.. to allow people to express yearnings in so many diff ways.. as soon as we let go of having to be right.. that is the bridge..

andreas: important key word.. the commons.. living the commons.. it’s a way to relate.. a very old way of doing econ.. relating/sharing.. it’s the way the biosphere works.. something where every living subject is contributing and fed

1\ undisturbed ecosystem (common\ing) can happen

2\ if we create a way to ground the chaos of 8b legit free people

andreas: opposed to c as an econ.. it’s very much alive.. it’s much more.. it’s about creating ourselves in mutuality.. see david bollier

oikos (the economy our souls crave).. ‘i should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace.’ – gaston bachelard, the poetics of space

david bollier

andreas: the good thing is we don’t need to do it alone.. not about battles of knowing it better.. but in togetherness.. humans have been doing this for thousands of year

well.. like whales in sea world.. we need to get out to see/be that legit dance

andreas: they really need to obey the laws of sharing this world

obey?.. or listen to the itch-in-the-soul

andreas: we need to enlarge our view from humans only.. but to all beings.. and then they’ll tell us..

holmgren indigenous law et al

andreas: our task is generating functivity

in undisturbed ecosystems ..the average individual, species, or population, left to its own devices, behaves in ways that serve and stabilize the whole..’ –Dana Meadows

andreas: if we only really listen.. t

yeah again.. non hierarchical listening.. let’s focus on that.. to detox us in sync

andreas: so important to see that the efficiency story in biology is so shallow.. it’s not a story about that

carol: the only way to pop the pimple is by putting pressure on it.. but the pimple needs to be popped.. think of all the toxins we endure because we’re afraid to pop it

oh.. i don’t know.. we need a means that 8b people already crave.. not more pressure

andreas: i love this carol.. work against that what is strangling life.. needs to start right now/here.. as long as we’re relatively free to do this.. it really needs to be done right now.. t

and why we need a means to leap.. for (blank)’s sake.. this is why pressure isn’t the means.. it perpetuates sea world.. we need to get at craving rather than defense et al..

sam: so urgent that andreas woke up in the middle of the night to hang out w us.. in italy..
