Compassionate Inquiry | With Dr. Gabor Maté – (2023) – 9 min video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9Gr1UyqU-w]:

2 min – 4 personality traits.. talked about in myth of normal..

myth of normal

1\ auto/compulsive concern for emotional needs of others while ignoring your own

2\ rigid id w duty/responsibility

responsibility ness as cancerous distraction

3\ pathological niceness.. repress healthy anger

evans polite\ness law

4\ 2 beliefs – 1: you’re responsible for how others feel 2: you must never disappoint anybody

3 min: traits in all people who got sick.. essence is emotional disconnection fro self.. once i realized that (and all doc of it).. not to mention once i began to connection between childhood trauma and every mental health disorder you can possibly diagnose.. from addiction to adhd to everything else.. med treatments not enough.. you got to talk to people..

4 min: med treatments not enough.. you got to talk to people.. who’s going to talk to them.. my patients couldn’t afford private psychologists and psychiatrists don’t understand any of this.. not their fault not part of their training .. avg med student doesn’t hear a single lecture on trauma ..most psychiatrists have a very shallow understanding of trauma .. at least on their training .. so where am i going to send these people.. i had to start talking to them myself.. this is how i stumbled into counseling .. found that by asking right questions.. answers are in people themselves..

on each heart

5 min: asked to teach it .. said couldn’ because didn’t know what i was doing.. but ended up being first course in toronto (compassionate inquiry)

6 min: have you had a h almaas.. rec .. he’s par excellance.. almaas says only when compassion is present will people allow themselves to see the truth

a h almaas.. maté and almaas on trauma and spirit.. almaas holes law..

almaas compassion law

that’s the compassion part.. the inquiry part is rooted in my conviction.. which is not personal to me.. that the truth is inside all of us.. that our bodies keep the score.. and that with the right questions and a compassionate setting people will come to the truth of themselves .. so that’s what this whole idea is based on

on each heart

7 min: id comes from latin make self same as..so if i id as a dr.. my status/value dependent on that particular role.. but who am i really.. underneath all that .. so id always contains an element of falsehood in it .. *even if id with something true in yourself.. if make self same as that one particular thing.. you’re diminishing yourself

identity ness.. marsh label law..

*the it is me ness

8 min: that id is how we develop the personality.. personality mix of true and ones we id with because afraid not to be them..

maté trump law.. socrates supposed to law..

ie: if id being strong.. can’t say help.. id limiting us

Compassionate Inquiry is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.

from compassionate inquiry site:[https://compassionateinquiry.com/]:

Dr. Gabor Maté developed the Compassionate Inquiry® psychotherapy approach, which reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.

Using the Compassionate Inquiry system, both the individual and therapist unveil the level of consciousness, mental climate, hidden assumptions, implicit memories and body states that form the real message that words both express and conceal.

Through the therapist’s use of the Compassionate Inquiry approach, the client can recognize the unconscious dynamics that run their lives and how to liberate themselves from them.

“The purpose of the Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them …

That’s what Compassionate Inquiry is.”
