alan watts – what if money was no object?
What makes you itch?
We must do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. – Buckminster Fuller
Perhaps some of that cleverness, lies in realizing what we already have.
what if credential was no object?
The goal of a compassionate economy, therefore, is not to provide “jobs,” as most liberal politicians seem to think. Once work has become mechanical, it is in a sense too late — inhuman work might as well be done by machines. I cannot help but remark on the inanity of economic programs that seek to make more “jobs,” as if we needed more goods and more services. Why do we want to create more jobs? It is so people have money to live. For that purpose, they might as well dig holes in the ground and fill them up again, as Keynes famously quipped. Present economic policies attempt just that: witness the current efforts to reignite housing construction at a time when there are 19 million vacant housing units in the United States! (3) Wouldn’t it be better to pay people to do nothing at all, and free up their creative energy to meet the urgent needs of the world? – Charles Einsenstein, Sacred Economics
why your life is not a journey
the physical uni is basically playful.. no destination that it ought to arrive at.. best understood by analogy of music.. ie: play piano.. don’t work it… not trying to get to end.. end isn’t the point..
the whole point of the dancing is the dance…
look at the people who live to retire…
we’ve simply cheated ourselves the whole way down the line
we missed the point.. it was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing/dance.. while the music was being played..
how to make self better
if only i could be the right person.. can i improve me..
if i am in need of improvement.. the person going to do the improving is the one who needs it..
how can i improve myself.. how can i accept grace.. same problem.. you have to take first step..
behind ego.. inner self.. the real self..
who is the self behind the watching self.. can you watch that one..?
the watching self.. behind all thoughts/feelings.. is itself thought..
the quest is not diff from quest for candy bar
7 min – doing good for others is destructive.. because it’s full of conceit.. how do you know what’s good for others.. how do you know what’s good for you
we really don’t know how to interfere with the way the world is
8 min – if you are aware of your own inner workings.. you will realize there’s nothing you can do to improve yourself.. and this also goes for society
we can change society.. we can get enormous enthusiasm going out of the idea that there’s a revolution afoot and that this revolution is going to set everything to right… do you know a revolution that ever set everything to right..
supposed we can’t improve ourselves.. let’s begin where we are.. what if you know there is nothing you can do to be better.. gives us a breather in the course of which we can simply watch what’s going on.. nobody every does this..
and don’t be in a hurry to think you know what it is.. without fixing labels/names/gradations/judgments on everything.. if you do that.. you give yourself a chance..free from busy body ness.. and out to improve everything.. and your own nature will take care of itself.. not getting in way of self.. the great things you need to do.. already happening..

yeah.. let’s to that.. org around legit needs (aka: something every soul already craves)
imagine if we just focused on listening to the itch-in-8b-souls.. first thing.. everyday.. and used that data to augment our interconnectedness.. we might just get to a more antifragile, healthy, thriving world.. the ecosystem we keep longing for..
