politics
adding page while re-reading Hannah Arendt‘s the promise of politics..
what the modern era expected of its state, and what this state indeed achieved to a large extent, was the release of men to develop their socially productive energies, to produce in common the good they required for a ‘happy ” life.

so fitting.. as politics as a means to free us to our energy/art.. has now stifled us.. evidence for a shrewd/systemic pruning.. no? since we now can organize for ongoing self-organizing.. ie: everyone has something else to do – spontaneously and synchronously…

of, for, or relating to citizens…
Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, meaning “of, for, or relating to citizens”) is the practice and theory of influencing other people. More narrowly, it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance — organized control over a human community, particularly a state. Furthermore, politics is the study or practice of the distribution of power and resources within a given community (a hierarchically organized population) as well as the interrelationship(s) between communities.
A variety of methods are employed in politics, which include promoting one’s own political views among people, negotiation with other political subjects, making laws, and exercising force, including warfare against adversaries. Politics is exercised on a wide range of social levels, from clans and tribes of traditional societies, through modern local governments, companies and institutions up to sovereign states, to the international level.
prior to now.. no?
It is very often said that politics is about power. A political system is a framework which defines acceptable political methods within a given society. History of political thought can be traced back to early antiquity, with seminal works such as Plato’s Republic, Aristotle’s Politics and the works of Confucius.

makes me think of Noam Chomsky‘s people over power.. and Arundhati Roy’s talks on power.
back to Hannah – if the goal of politics is/was to free us up (from necessities) to do the thing we can’t not do.. we are at a time of great pruning. since we now have the capabilities for everyone to do whatever they want.. while tech facilitates the chaos into that very definition of politics. we go to zero need for labor (as we know it), because we finally learn to dance the dance.. (of syncing together, of this being about all of us as one)
much can happen when we free politics/policy/bureaucracy from power/ego/oppression.. no?

on its too much ness, from David Graeber‘s the utopia of rules:
bureaucracy has become the water in which we swim.
back to a public ness – of concerning all the people, rather than coercing/oppressing/managing/drowning/suffocating all the people..
perhaps authentic/good/useful politics is the means to the ridiculous sounding luxury.. (aka: freedom).. we could all have today..

politics are about allocating scarcity.. if take scarcity out .. doesn’t matter who’s in charge…
if get rid of scarcity.. politics less important..
9 min – everyone working on l-r system of politics.. massively out of step
once look at post industrial econ’s work – ie: keven carson’s, yoha benkler.. entire political movement landscape is littered with things one/two generation behind…. control of assets always about assets.. when econ changes shape.. if politics don’t catch up.. keep turning… applying force.. just strip head of problem.. can’t get real leverage on problems.. generations behind econ so politics don’t grip
the biggest block we have is thinking poverty is static..

@hankgreen
Not voting for Hillary Clinton will always be half a vote for Donald Trump. There just isn’t a way around that.
@hankgreen unless we redefine politics et al.. no?
@sweetharturbald
You’re not going to redefine politics in the middle of a presidential election
