Step Inside The Landing: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Shelter Design

At The Landing, every space has been carefully designed to promote safety, comfort, and connection—core principles of Trauma-Informed Design (TID). From soothing sensory elements to flexible gathering spaces and community-inspired artwork, The Landing is more than a shelter—it’s a place where youth can feel at home while transitioning into independence.

What is Trauma-Informed Design?

TID is an approach that creates physical spaces that support healing and well-being by minimizing triggers and fostering regulation, safety, and autonomy. It draws from trauma-informed care, environmental psychology, and architectural best practices.
