The number pi (symbol: π) /paɪ/ is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, and is approximately equal to 3.14159.

what if:

…our degrees of separation – are converging to pi..

is it pi

the silos are coming down… the labels dismantling the now dismantled, the edit king no longer holds all the keys to convo..to communication. which means…more voices are heard. rhizomatic voices…we’ve needed and craved all along.. we just assumed they weren’t allowed. or didn’t sing as pretty a song. if we listen…w/o an agenda.. ie:w/o that edit pen,our ego, our fears, etc… perhaps… well find people falling in love with language..with communicating…with writing and reading even. but most of all.. falling in love with people, since after all.. it was our assumption that we had communicated that got us to fear, build silos, … etc, … in the first place. no? GBShaw
so…practicing this post with a math lens:
IMO…people worried about the basics… most likely don’t really know potentials of pi or how to rationalize a denom.. or the implications of imag #’s… which btw we are all buying into as basics via common core Pisa ..most of our publicly prescribed cuuric. not so much out of loving silos.. or comfort in our egos… but because we love people… ESP those we know most… and we want what’s best for them. we’re just not (for whatever reasons: pride/fear, greed/fear, fear/fear, etc/fear) feeling empowered (or the freedom or comfort in irresolution and ignorancy) enough to question that…our own assumed, fake, scripted, etc… basics…leading us to a space (our own spaces) where soul peace is rare.. so we desire more for those around us.. but in our insecurities (again, IMO, often via our lack of soul peace), we imagine more is more.. unable to see… because we often only look with our eyes or our brains… not our hearts (yes …see I am film)..what we’re failing to see, IMO of utmost importance… is that less is more, and we are all good just now. let’s trust that. less of each of us good people coming together… that is more. the coming together makes it more.and the circle of life comes back around… to communication.. in whatever form… because like us… our hearts each have their own thumbprint .. perhaps the more we see that… the more we look for that.. listen to that without an agenda or proof… the closer the limit will come to the degrees of separation…maybe we’ll see a convergence on 3.14 after all. three people away.. plus at least one lurker… no?   [latest calculations have found the earlier believed 6 degrees of separation to be closer to 4.47 degrees of separation – will try to find that article and bring back here]
pi degreesdiameter as furthest distance in a circle. most unlikely match…most divergent language .. most rhizomatic of expertise… even them… and huge note: esp them.. is where we find our hearts at the limit, at the edge, … of becoming one.

π is an irrational number, which means that it cannot be expressed exactly as a ratio of two integers (such as 22/7 or other fractions that are commonly used to approximate π);

what if:

..The most rational thing to do is the irrational work of art.  – Seth Godin

consequently, its decimal representation never ends and never settles into a permanent repeating pattern.

what if:

..a major constraint is in giving in to pi-ness..

The more constraints one imposes, the more one frees oneself of the claims that shackle the spirit.

                               – Igor Stravinsky, Poetics of Music in the Formof Six Lessons [as found via Scott Belsky‘s – Making Ideas Happen]

deep thinking about constraints – and the pi-ness constraint as a means to optimal aliveness

What this means is that, regardless of your industry, your professional life is becoming more nomadic, digital, and flexible.

fresh ideas have the potential to take us off course; they are seldom economical (at first) and introduce tremendous risk to a finely tuned system.

                                   – Scott Belsky‘s – Making Ideas Happen

what if rather than perhaps a more common idea of constraint [ie: a restriction], the restraint of not knowing-ness, of no repeating patterns, …no matter how far we zoom out, is what might unleash us to – the very thing(s) our souls crave..

The digits appear to be randomly distributed, although no proof of this has yet been discovered. π is atranscendental number – a number that is not the root of any nonzero polynomial having rational coefficients.

what if:

..nothing is really provable. what if all the time we keep spending trying to prove things, especially ourselves, is keeping us from us.

We spend so much of our days, our time/money/people on proving things. What if nothing is actually provable. Perhaps the belief that we have to prove ourselves, is getting in the way of us being ourselves. What if the simple fact that we think we have to prove some learning happened, is verification enough, that it didn’t. Perhaps if it did, we would just know. Perhaps if it did, we wouldn’t feel the need to prove it. Perhaps we’ll find, the doing/learning/being to be enough.           – via prove

We spend so much time/money/energy/people on proving things. Cool if it seems to be real. Dang if it isn’t.            – via is it real

For thousands of years, mathematicians have attempted to extend their understanding of π, sometimes by computing its value to a high degree of accuracy. ..

In the 20th and 21st centuries, mathematicians and computer scientists discovered new approaches that – when combined with increasing computational power – extended the decimal representation of π to, as of late 2011, over 10 trillion (1013) digits.  Scientific applications generally require no more than 40 digits of π, so the primary motivation for these computations is the human desire to break records, but the extensive calculations involved have been used to test supercomputers and high-precision multiplicationalgorithms.

what if:

we’re spending too much time on a desire to win/compete/break records… what if most of our days are spent on an assumed human motivation/desire..     – via competition

Because its definition relates to the circle, π is found in many formulae in trigonometry and geometry, especially those concerning circles, ellipses, or spheres. It is also found in formulae from other branches of science, such as cosmology, number theory, statistics, fractals, thermodynamics, mechanics, and electromagnetism.

what if:

.. the crazy intersection of fractal thinking and pi-ness and.. ? .. is the space we can most be alive. everyday.

The Bailey-Borwein-Plouffe formula, discovered in 1995, allows to calculate any digit of π (in base 16) without calculating the preceding digits. https://t.co/qu2a2CF7g7 (http://twitter.com/fermatslibrary/status/950717560173072385?s=17)

from (2020) film live twice love once:

55 min – (emilio – who has alzheimers was a math prof.. daughter asked him what he loved about his lost love.. he said because she’s like the number pi): i’m so attracted to mathematics because of the pure logic in it, numbers are always rational, predictable, but w/o warning.. and amid all those harmonious things, appears the number pi, one number.. mysterious.. infinite.. it’s a number that is alive.. constantly forging its own path.. never following patterns established/known.. and that is how i realized mathematics aren’t simply logical.. they’re also magical.. that is what margarita was to me.. magical..
