it’s been a big part of my study – and i can’t define it – but i’ll say this about it…quality of relationship that happens when the elimination of uncertainty does not dominate in a particular environment..

what’s of interest of me isn’t so much the word.. but the quality of relationship that’s being spoken about with those words.. from the with-ness and the here-ness of people in space when the elimination of uncertainty doesn’t dominate as of ethic within that space

elimination of uncertainty —> quests for perfection/control, quest to fix, environment of control, top/down ness – the joining factor of the shitty stuff, the heart of what makes things crack.. it isn’t just that things get bad.. it’s that when things are bad they get worse when they work in their own gravities.. it’s why it’s not enough just to stand there..

how do i know when i’m participating in it.. how do i understand enough to know that i’m participating in it.. (part of anthony’s core quest) .. how am i making things worse when they’re getting worse even when i thought i was making them better..

the heart – there is no time when activism isn’t happening.. there is no action and  non-action…

power – goal directive of how we engage in relationships..

1. the quieter forms of life.. are not visible in social/political/academic theory.. so they are rendered irrelevant
2. not only are these invisible/irrelevant.. they are also deeply human/powerful.. huge potential for us to learn about realities

power – the ability to vary the experience of oneself or others – so silence becomes an act of power.. 

interest if something is powerful or not – uninteresting.. but rather.. what affects do power have..

in that frame.. we always already make a difference.. to consider ourselves helpless… is to misread the situation.. the only question is how do we make the difference… identify opportunities..

the elimination of uncertainty is the core act of violence..

the vast majority of human life is in informal relationship, causal, non-institutional.. in quiet places – that’s where most of the power/difference in the world is happening all day/every day.. (huge to ed)

placing a piece of paper in a box – every year.. is not the vast majority of difference you will make. the vast majority of power you will engage in.. is touching people.. waking up..  – times when people are making huge difference in each others lives… are not being counted..

3. these qualities of relationship

the identification of the elimination of uncertainty

the word – is – avoids challenge of diversity/variety, which is huge.. human nature can be many things

intensity of affect or emotion, degree of directivity, degree to which we relate to uncertainty   – these are direct correlates

the more we think in terms of elimination of uncertainty the more blind we become

 4. we need a new theory from old wisdoms..
