We first fell in love with Dan because of his take/insight on emotionally intelligent signage (then found out he was this famous author:

from us:

a wondering…

personally i wish they (acceptable use policies) didn’t exist. or at least they were universal.. meaning for everything.
i wish we could say (for everything -not just tech – or dress code – or etc…)

or perhaps, using the words of @willrich45

{kids exchanged Will‘s be effective with be awesome}
but again – for everything:

if you talk to employees at the Googleplex in California, as I had the chance to do earlier this year, they’ll tell you that most of the good ideas in the company have their roots in 20pc time.

via Dan’s post: Reap the rewards of letting your employees (students) runfree

The results – … – could be stunning.

rewards by their own nature narrow our focus

if then rewards work well for easy problems

as long as mechanical skills – higher reward better performance
even rudimentary critical thinking – rewards led to lower performance

mismatch between what science knows and what business (school) does

don’t do more of the wrong things…
1) autonomy
2) mastery
3) purpose

notes from same talk over a year ago

in rowe – people don’t have schedules.. don’t have to show up at all, meetings are optional, productivity/engagement/mastery goes up, turnover goes down

For all the yammering about the fiscal cliff, another cliff might present a more perilous danger — what the folks at Gallup call the “school cliff.”

Never heard of that one?

Take a look at chart below — and you’ll grok it immediately.
