A new trailer has arrived for Michel Gondry’s upcoming animated documentary Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy?, which prominently features notable professor, linguist, political philosopher, and activist Noam Chomsky.
The film’s unique premise involves recorded conversations the French director had with Chomsky on his theory of the emergence of language. Gondry then paired these recorded conversations with his own hand-drawn animation sequences to create the final product.
The trailer plunges the viewer right into a conversation with Chomsky, who is contemplating the similarities between willow trees. Anyone who has ever felt a bit lost while attempting to take a stab at studying the political philosopher’s work will surely relate to Gondry’s interjection of “As you can see, I felt a bit stupid here.”

children know a lot about language before they can exhibit it..
during early exposure – 18 months.. where child is not manifesting.. they are acquiring.. not consciously.. .. can understand what saying if can put hand on face
consider 1 day old infant.. a lot of things going on.. how does infant figure out what part of that is language..
