I connect to a virtual mentor. We focus on ways to change up the 7 hours a day we call school. I start reading many books and connecting to many people online via twitter and webinars. I lurk. I listen.

Bold dreaming begins.

In their spare time from piloting a self-directed math class, youth in Loveland, CO, craft a plan to redefine school. Our district gives us spaces of permission to be.

We listen. More.

This listening without an agenda allures youth voices. Strong voices from within, often quoting experts they’ve not read.

We prototype. We practice. We fail.

 

We begin research with local uni professor. We connect with unschooling parents. We begin learning how theory becomes practice. More doing, more prototyping, tons of documenting.
