The future of schooling: we need a radical new education manifesto

We cannot carry on with short term, politically-driven tinkering with an old-fashioned system. We need an education spring.

Can the purpose be the same for all children regardless of social circumstance?

 The spouted ‘autonomies’ are a sleight of hand to appeal to the public whilst testing acts as a straitjacket for schools. Schools are only free within their shackles.

Professor Michael Waters (born 1949, Northamptonshire) was the Director of Curriculum at the (British) Qualifications and Curriculum Authority(QCA), based in London, from 2005-9. He was responsible for what British children are legally obliged to study at school via the National Curriculum.
