Boris Groys was in a true dialog with David and me. He is the very reason why we started to think about the Museum of Care in the first place.
Anton Vidokle is an amazing artist and writer and long-time conversational partner of Groys.

this is shift from environ of work to that of care.. objectification of human body.. no longer a soul but of work/use.. socialism is a program of caring about the human body..

if you look at boat and museum it is the same.. boat is just swimming till it drowns.. museum is functioning/caring about artwork until.. this nontelelogical/infinite activities becomes a problem in society that 1\ wants to care and 2\ accepts politics.. the corpse does not belong to the social order.. it is given back to the family.. which of course is not true.. because museum is a graveyard..

on inventing cosmic ships w studio.. so to travel everywhere w/o leaving his studio.. a dream of being everywhere w/o leaving your home.. it is like care/death are contradictory.. to be everywhere but not to leave our home.. we now satisfy this desire by zoom.. but it is something that has more imagination than reality..
what is important for me to stress is that immortality is not a goal.. death/production can be a goal.. if achieve something.. you achieve the end.. have a result.. a telos.. so effort has ended.. but the activity of the museum curator.. and of constant care.. is infinite.. you never presuposde the end of this kind of activity.. the goal is eternal movement.. and you can’t achieve this goal.. you can only move..t.. that is very diff distinction between activities that are intrinsically final.. like sexuality.. and ones that are infinite.. they can’t be interrupted.. but they can’t be fulfilled..

i became interested in all this in 60s.. russia rejected everything russian.. and wanted to absorb anything non russian.. i was interested in russia and russian culture.. and what it can offer and what it cannot.. i had always a feeling of .. maybe has to do w my background.. didn’t go to school.. because of medical condition.. where i never read russian.. so when i went to school i read russian and met people from russia.. so began to be interested in russia but from a foreign view.. it was strange/exotic.. i was interested because it was non western.. what is a body in the west.. it’s an object.. ashamed to have a body.. because used.. a western tradition that believes in subject and despises object..

He is currently a Global Distinguished Professor of Russian and Slavic Studies at New York University and Senior Research Fellow at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe, Germany. He has been a professor of Aesthetics, Art History, and Media Theory at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design/Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe and an internationally acclaimed Professor at a number of universities in the United States and Europe, including the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Southern California and the Courtauld Institute of Art London.
